On Writing Newsletters

Over a year ago, I had a website designed to create a home for my writing life. A couple of friends suggested I install a subscribe button and create newsletters. It took me a long time to decide to take this course. I wasn’t sure I had any content to put into a newsletter. I don’t have a book to promote (reader, I’m working on it) and while I have some publications, I wasn’t sure they were particularly newsworthy – in other words, I wasn’t celebrating my accomplishments as a writer. I was doing myself a disservice.

I talk and write a lot about celebrating the small victories of living with chronic illness but for some reason completely dismissed the work I put into creating and the success of being published, which as every writer knows, is no easy feat. I also wasn’t sure I had the time or energy to invest in a newsletter – wasn’t social media enough? The answer, as it turns out, is no.

Social media is changing and I’m changing my relationship with it. I’ve reduced my time on all my platforms and redirected my energy to nurturing my muse in the real world. And by doing that I discovered that I do have some things to share about this incredible passion we call writing. Creating a newsletter was another way to practice my craft, feed my muse, and connect with the writing community.

So I invite you to subscribe and come along on my journey at: jgchayko.com

I look forward to sharing my writing life with you, and hope it encourages you to always be excited and find the joy in your own writing.
